Problem

The platform has a three step verification for sitters - basic, standard and enhanced.

Enhanced verification is provided by a third party on a global scale however they no longer offer police checks and there are no alternative providers we need to remove this from the platform.

To increase trust the management decided to see if introducing verifications to both owners and sitters in the onboarding flow will have a positive effect.

Goal

To provide a user friendly verification system for both sides of the network that is safe and provides clear value. We used Google’ five day design print method to come up with creative solutions to the problem.

The Process

To provide a user friendly verification system for both sides of the network that is safe and provides clear value. We used Google’ five day design print method to come up with creative solutions to the problem.

Monday

We began with understanding the problem first by sharing knowledge, understanding the problem, and choosing a target for the week’s efforts.

Long term goal

We defined the long term goal and questions together.

Tuesday

After agreeing on our long term golas, questions and organised ideas from the expert interviews, our sprint team moved on to focusing on solutions.

Lightning demos

We looked at great solutions from a range of companies. We came prepared as this was our 'homwwork' from the week before

Divide or swarm

We had a look at our map to see if our target was focused enough or not for one team to work on the same problem.

The Four-Step Sketch.

After Ed briefly explained the steps we were going to take - we did the four step sketch - notes, ideas, crazy 8s, solution sketches - te get ready for deciding and storyboarding next day.

Wednesday

After we decided which ideas have the best chance of achieving our long-term goal we took the winning scenes from our sketches and weaved them into a storyboard: a step-by-step plan for our prototype.

Sticky decision

We couldn't prototype and test all of our solutions - we needed one combined plan, so we followed a five-step process for deciding on the best idea.

  • Step 1:

Art museum: We hung all the solution sketches on a wall so everyone could take a look at them.

  • Step 2:

Heat map: Silently, we looked at a solution sketch and used sticky dots to vote on features we thought were worth prototyping.

  • Step 3:

Speed critique: We then spent 3 minutes per sketch discussing the highlights of each solution, taking notes on standout ideas.

  • Step 4:

Atraw poll: To collect the group's opinions, we voted on ideas we liked the most using large sticky dots.

  • Step 5:

Supervote: With all the votes in place, Lisa our decider voted on three final solutions we continued to prototype and test.

  • Winners VS 'maybe laters'

We groupped the winning ideas together and groupped the rest into 'maybe laters'.

    Rumble or all-in-one

It was a cler win, so we decided to do an all-in-one solution.

    The storyboard

With the winning sketches and ideas groupped together, the next stpe was to organize it around a story for the prototype.

    Thursday

On Thursday we turned our storyboard into a prototype to test with customers on Friday.

    Pick the right tools.

We used our UI kit, digital prototyping tools and content relevant for the prototype.

    Assign roles

    Maker & stitcher: Balazs

    Writer: Sophie

    Asset Collector: Lisa

    Interviewer: Ed

    Stitch it together

With the work split into parts, it’s easy to lose track of the whole. Ed checked the parts for quality and that all the pieces make sense together

    Trial run

Ed, our stitcher, ran through the prototype narrating the journey as we checked against the storyboard to ensure we hadn't missed anything. This allowed us to iron out any issues before putting the prototype in front of our users the next day.

    Friday

We began with understanding the problem first without solutionize by sharing knowledge, understanding the problem, and choosing a target for the week’s efforts.

    Makeshift Research Lab

We set up two rooms, one for the usability testing/interviews and one for note-taking.

    Looking for patterns

At the end of the day, we made a list of all the patterns we noticed.
